The CSULB African Student Union presents the 33rd Annual Black Consciousness Conference
Unfinished Business: The Black Consciousness Movement Continues

Peace and Greetings Brothers and Sisters,

This November 16-17, 2012, the African Student Union of California State
University,  Long Beach will proudly present its 33rd Annual Black Consciousness Conference (BCC). Our conference is the longest standing student conference in California. Solely coordinated by CSULB students, it has been an immense success over the years. The theme of this year’s conference is “Unfinished Business: The Black Consciousness Movement Continues” The conference will focus on topics such as HIV/AIDS awareness, student activism, the dynamics of black families, living a healthy life, male and female empowerment, and more.

The purpose of this conference is to provide a forum where Black students and the Black community at-large can engage in a dialogue about the issues that impact our community; this is also an opportunity for us to develop solutions and to take them back to the communities in which we belong. Also, over the course of two days, we will aim to map the distinctive concerns and historical forces that have shaped Black people's ideas and intellectual activities.

The Black Consciousness Conference will be a memorable experience for everyone involved. It will be an inspiring conference that highlights the rarely recognized, but myriad spaces where Black people have contributed and continue to contribute to the intellectual activities of our society.

With all the amazing speakers, scholarly panel discussions, intellectually stimulating workshops, and social celebrations, you can't afford to miss it; so call all your family and friends and let them know to save their monies because you all our taking a trip to THE BEACH!
